Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville PC congratulates Peter W. Thomas, the firm’s managing partner, on receiving the National Leadership Excellence Award from the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA). Peter received the award during AMRPA’s 2026 Educational Conference & Expo in Austin, Texas, in recognition of his outstanding service and significant contributions to the field of medical rehabilitation.
AMRPA Board Chair Rhonda Abbott presented the award to Peter during the Conference’s State of the Association session. In accepting the award, Peter expressed his gratitude to the inpatient rehabilitation community, with which he has a longstanding personal connection. Following an automobile accident early in life, Peter underwent inpatient rehabilitation and has used prosthetic limbs ever since.
At the AMRPA Education Conference & Expo, Peter and Powers Principal, Ron Connelly, provided counsel to the Fund for Access to Inpatient Rehabilitation (FAIR Fund) Membership Meeting. FAIR Fund uses legal strategies to challenge overly-aggressive government auditors and contractors to help ensure access to inpatient rehabilitation hospital services for Medicare beneficiaries and others.
Peter is a member of the firm’s Legislative and Healthcare practice groups and a longtime leader in the rehabilitation and disability communities. Throughout his career, he has held leadership and advisory roles with federal agencies, national organizations and nonprofit boards, helping shape health care, rehabilitation and disability policy and advance access to services for people with disabilities.
