On behalf of its tribal clients, Powers’ Indian Tribal Governments Group has been advocating for several years to secure enactment of the Tribal Labor Sovereignty Act of 2015 (H.R.511/S.248). This bi-partisan bill would treat Indian tribal governments the same as local, state and federal government employers for purpose of the National Labor Relations Act. The bill was passed by the House by a vote of 249-177 on November 17.
