The University of Virginia schools of Law and Business are sponsoring a symposium entitled “Introducing Change in the Delivery of Care”, on November 20 featuring Jim Pyles speaking on “The Independence at Home Medicare Demonstration: The Importance of a Principled and Multidisciplinary Approach to Health Policy.” Other presenters include Bob Berenson, of the Urban Institute as well as several prominent professors of law, medicine, and business at UVA.
Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) will appear in an introductory video, pointing out the importance of shifting care for the chronically ill to the home environment. Sen. Warner will also emphasize the value of integrating the disciplines of law, medicine and business in formulating sound health care policy. Sen. Warner is a member of the Senate Finance Committee and Co-chair of the Committee’s Chronic Care Work Group.
