On May 19, 2026, Principal Leela Baggett—who serves as Coordinator of the Independence Through Enhancement of Medicare and Medicaid (“ITEM”) Coalition’s Low Vision Subgroup—will serve as a panelist for the Prevent Blindness 2026 Focus on Eye Health Webinar Series.  Her session, “Vision Policy Across the Lifespan,” will explore how partnerships can advance key policy opportunities affecting vision care across the lifespan, including children’s vision, chronic disease and access challenges among working-age adults, and healthy aging initiatives.  Ms. Baggett will specifically highlight Medicare policy related to coverage of and access to low vision devices.

The four-part series, “Powering Partnerships to Advance Eye Health,” brings together patient advocates, health professionals, researchers, policymakers, community leaders, and industry leaders to explore innovative and sustainable solutions in policy, access to care, patient engagement, research, and clinical interventions focused on preventing vision loss and improving eye health.

Ms. Baggett advises healthcare providers, practitioners, and device manufacturers on Medicare compliance, coding, reimbursement, and appeals matters, while also helping clients navigate legislative and regulatory strategies that expand access to care and innovative technologies.  For more information, please contact Ms. Baggett at Leela.Baggett@PowersLaw.com.
