Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville Principal Peter Thomas was the lead speaker at the Medical Development Specialists, or MDS, Consulting Annual Conference entitled, “Evolving Hospital and Physician Business Models in the Wake of Healthcare Reform.” The conference was held September 22-24, 2010 in Las Vegas.
Mr. Thomas provided the Washington, D.C. perspective on how the major provisions in the recently enacted health reform law impact hospitals and physicians in regard to reimbursement, quality improvement and reporting, bundling programs, hospital readmission policies, DSH payments, graduate medical education changes and new fraud and abuse provisions. Particular attention was paid to planning for the opportunities that healthcare reform is generating.
