Powers’ Bryan Newland, Principal in the firm’s Indian Tribal Governments Practice Group, served as a panelist during the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources 34th Fall Conference, hosted in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Bryan participated in the session, “The Third Branch and Three Sovereigns: SCOTUS, Federalism, and Tribal-State Federal Relations,” which explored how recent and pending U.S. Supreme Court decisions are shaping administrative law, federalism, and the evolving distribution of authority among federal, state, and Tribal governments. The discussion addressed agency deference, the non-delegation doctrine, environmental and natural resources law, and implications for litigation strategies, regulatory compliance, and client counseling.
