This week, Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville’s long-time client the Preeclampsia Foundation was invited by the Trump Administration to make a historic announcement of a new national postpartum health initiative called “Still at Risk.”
Announced on March 12 at the National Conference on Women’s Health sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (“HHS”), the “Still at Risk” initiative is a public-private campaign that seeks to strengthen risk identification through a standardized wristband. The national awareness campaign aims to help medical teams quickly recognize postpartum complications associated with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and prevent maternal deaths through more timely recognition and intervention.
“I’m incredibly proud of the role our team at Powers played in helping bring ‘Still at Risk’ to life. For more than 16 years, I’ve worked alongside the Foundation to elevate the voices of women and families affected by hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, and this announcement marks a significant step toward strengthening postpartum risk identification and preventing tragic, avoidable complications,” Allen shared. “Seeing ‘Still at Risk’ unveiled at the HHS’s National Conference on Women’s Health underscores what thoughtful, sustained advocacy can achieve when policymakers and advocates work together.”
The Preeclampsia Foundation is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2000 to improve the outcomes of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy by educating, supporting, and engaging the community, improving healthcare practices, and accelerating research. The Foundation’s government relations effort is led by Powers Principal Julie Allen and Director of Government Relations Taryn Couture.
