Four Powers Attorneys Selected as Best Lawyers in America® 2012 Edition

Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville PC is pleased to announce that Stan Freeman, Joel HammeDiane Millman, and Mark Fitzgerald were selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 1.  For information about Best Lawyers and their methodology, see Best Lawyers.

Mr. Freeman is President of the firm, Chair of the Executive Committee and founder of the firm’s education practice.  Mr. Freeman frequently counsels postsecondary educational institutions from all sectors of higher education regarding strategic issues pertaining to participation in the federal student financial assistance programs, accreditation, licensure and related regulatory concerns.

Mr. Hamme is a past President of the American Health Lawyers Association, serving from July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009.  He has long been active in the leadership of AHLA.  Mr. Hamme’s practice primarily involves reimbursement and operational issues for long term care providers and litigation related to Medicaid and Medicare rates.

Ms. Millman’s healthcare practice encompasses the full range of transactional, regulatory and legislative services.  In recent years, she has focused primarily on the representation of physicians, ambulatory care providers and professional and trade associations.

Mr. Fitzgerald’s  practice focuses on healthcare compliance and transactional work.   He advises clients regularly on issues involving the federal anti-kickback statute, the Stark law, and the potential application of the federal False Claims Act to Medicare overpayments.  He also works extensively on healthcare transactions among hospitals, physicians and other healthcare providers.
