Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville PC is pleased to announce that Sydney G. Habegger has joined the firm as an associate in its Healthcare and Litigation practices.

Habegger’s arrival further strengthens Powers’ capabilities in healthcare regulatory matters and federal litigation, bringing additional government and judicial experience to the firm’s multidisciplinary work on behalf of healthcare organizations.

Her practice focuses on a broad range of healthcare and regulatory matters, including healthcare reimbursement disputes, HIPAA and Privacy Act compliance, federal litigation, policy development, and agreements related to the administration of health care programs.

Before joining Powers, Habegger served as an attorney advisor for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in the Office of the General Counsel, Public Health Division, Indian Health Service Branch. In this role, she handled matters before the Civilian Board of Contract Appeals and federal courts, working with the U.S. Department of Justice on complex legal and regulatory issues, case strategy and briefing.

She previously served as a judicial law clerk for the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, Office of Special Masters, where she drafted decisions analyzing legal issues involving entitlement, damages and fees under the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.

Habegger earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law and her Bachelor of Science from the University of Georgia. As a law student, she served as a legal intern for the Georgia Hospital Association and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Office of General Counsel, acting as a legal liaison between hospitals and state administrative agencies.
