Participants will explore the board’s oversight role in a health center and how requirements from HRSA align with these duties in practice. Through interactive case studies, attendees will apply these concepts to real-world scenarios, including managing conflicts of interest and clarifying the board’s role in decision-making.

Health centers face escalating cyber threats and a shifting regulatory landscape—often amid confusing vendor claims about what they “must” do next. Join Dianne K. Pledgie and Maylee Sanchez for a practical discussion that aligns IT operations with legal/compliance priorities for community health centers. We’ll clarify what’s required now versus what’s proposed or forthcoming (including anticipated HIPAA updates and information blocking considerations), and share actionable steps to strengthen risk analysis, incident response readiness, and vendor oversight.

This session will provide board members with core compliance and legal updates related to the health center program. Topics will include funding compliance, billing and financial oversight, privacy and security, and other critical compliance areas—each tailored to what board members need to know to effectively support their health center.  The session will conclude with essential questions every board should ask to ensure members fulfill their fiduciary duties, the organization complies with applicable laws and regulations, and compliance efforts are aligned with strategic priorities.
