October 1st marks the start of the 80th National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). NDEAM annually celebrates the contributions of the people with disabilities in the nation’s workforce and showcases supportive, inclusive policies and practices that benefit employees and employers alike.
This October also marks one year since Powers partnered with the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and the Center for the Study and Advancement of Disability Policy (CSAPD) to launch the Bobby Silverstein Fellowship, honoring the legacy of Robert “Bobby” Silverstein, a champion of disability rights and longtime partner at Powers Law.
This year’s NDEAM theme, “Celebrating Value and Talent,” reflects Bobby’s legacy and the goals of our fellowship. We celebrate the tremendous value Bobby brought to Powers Law, and we are proud to carry forward his legacy by fostering continued value and talent through the fellowship program.
As we begin this month of awareness, let us carry these values into our daily practices and continue advocating for the rights and opportunities of workers with disabilities throughout the year.
