On Thursday, November 6, 2025, Powers principals Ron Connelly and Rob Portman attended the “Connections for a Cause” event in support of EverybodyWins DC (EWDC). EWDC is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC, that sponsors several programs to promote supplemental reading opportunities for elementary students in DC and its nearby suburbs. The Powers Firm has been a long-time financial supporter of EWDC. Ron Connelly is a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee. Rob Portman has been an EWDC reading mentor for more than 20 years and currently serves as pro bono general counsel and ex officio board member for the organization. Several other Powers attorneys are also volunteer reading mentors in EWDC partner schools. The Connection for a Cause event was designed to introduce prominent members of the DC area business community to the work of EWDC and the opportunities for supporting the nonprofit’s mission.
