As an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation from Tolikan, Arizona, Natasha John brings sophisticated legislative expertise to her role as Director of Tribal Government Relations at Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville.

She serves as a primary advocate for tribal governments and organizations, navigating the complex federal landscape to secure the resources and policy shifts necessary for tribal sovereignty and economic self-determination.

Natasha is recognized for her ability to translate tribal priorities into legislative victories. Her career highlights include:

  • Historic Funding Increases: Spearheaded advocacy efforts that secured a record $1.34 billion in funding for HUD Native American Programs for Fiscal Year 2024—a 32% increase over previous levels—directly impacting tribal housing and infrastructure.
  • Legislative Leadership: Served as the lead lobbyist in securing critical tribal provisions within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act of 2018, ensuring tribal governments were integrated into national transportation policy.
  • Strategic Federal Advocacy: Represents tribal interests before Congress and federal agencies in high-priority sectors, including clean energy development, natural resource management, and large-scale infrastructure projects.

Before joining Powers, Natasha gained invaluable experience as Professional Staff for the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs under Chairman John Barrasso. Her tenure in the offices of Senator Tom Coburn and Representative Dan Boren provided her with a rare, bi-cameral understanding of the federal policymaking process.

A frequent speaker for the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) and the Coalition of Large Tribes, Natasha is a trusted voice in Indian Country. She holds an M.A. in Political Science-International Relations.
