Joe Nahra is the Director of Government Relations at Powers Law Firm and focuses on federal healthcare, rehabilitation, and disability policy and advocacy for the firm’s clients.

Joe employs targeted legislative and political analysis, lobbying and advocacy activity, and strategic coalition management to empower clients to have the greatest impact on health policy. His work on legislative and regulatory initiatives is critical to the provider, supplier, and consumer groups the firm serves. In his capacity as Director of Government Relations, Joe conducts, organizes, and facilitates lobbying and related advocacy events, including congressional briefings, Capitol Hill visits, and federal agency meetings. Additionally, he manages a number of national disability and rehabilitation coalitions led by the Powers public policy and government relations group. These coalitions focus on access to rehabilitation services and devices, assistive technology, quality orthotic and prosthetic care, and promotion of disability and rehabilitation research across the federal agencies.

Previously, Joe served as a Government Relations & Advocacy lead in the Health Care practice at SmithBucklin, an association management company serving trade associations and professional societies. He represented clients in the specialty provider and health care facility space, and managed a full range of advocacy services, including federal lobbying, legislative and regulatory strategy, coalition building, and PAC administration.

Joe is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics with a concentration in Public Policy and Governance.
