Jeremy Lewin is a principal in the firm’s nonprofit and employment practice groups, representing clients in a broad range of industries and fields, including healthcare, education, retail, hospitality, and manufacturing.  Jeremy leverages his diverse experience as an in-house general counsel, federal investigator and mediator, litigator, and corporate attorney to handle a broad range of employment, corporate governance, regulatory, and transactional issues.

Jeremy started his career as a federal investigator and mediator for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.  Following his federal service, Jeremy spent ten years as a litigator and counselor in private practice, representing for-profit and non-profit employers of all sizes, including the largest private employer in the world and a host of national associations.  While Jeremy is an accomplished litigator, his true strength is his ability to identify issues early and work creatively with clients to mitigate risk.

Jeremy’s approach to risk mitigation includes highly effective harassment and discrimination training programs and individual coaching for staff, executives, and board members.  Jeremy has provided group and individual training to thousands of people across all industries, from small medical practices to hospitals, universities, the federal government, multiple Fortune 100 companies, and a wide range of national nonprofit associations.

Jeremy recently transitioned from in-house to outside General Counsel for a 54,000-member medical society, where he was responsible for legal, governance, regulatory and compliance issues facing the organization and its six 501(c)(3) affiliates.  Having managed outside legal services for these organizations, Jeremy knows first-hand that clients value communication, responsiveness, and efficiency, and he makes those qualities a priority in his practice.

Jeremy brings his unique understanding of the federal investigative process to his work on regulatory and compliance matters with various federal agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service, Federal Trade Commission, Department of Justice, and Department of Health and Human Services.

A recognized leader in his field, Jeremy serves as Chair of the General Counsels section of the Counsel of Medical Specialty Societies.

Jeremy holds a JD from Loyola University and a BA in Economics from DePaul University.  He also attended graduate school at the London School of Economics, where he studied economics, statistics, and philosophy.
