SUMMARY:Amending Patient Records: Patient Rights and Health Center Responses | Webinar
DESCRIPTION:With patients gaining greater access to their records through patient portals\, it is essential for health centers to maintain accurate\, up-to-date information and to have clear policies for responding to patient requests to amend their records. Accurate and complete patient records are critical for high-quality care\, legal compliance\, and regulatory reporting. Whether patients request updates to correct a typo or to remove references to certain identifiers or types of care\, having a clear policy ensures timely\, consistent responses and may reduce the likelihood of a patient filing a complaint with the Office for Civil Rights (OCR). \nThis webinar will guide health centers through the process of responding to patient requests to amend records\, covering when and how corrections can be made\, documentation requirements\, and compliance considerations under HIPAA. Participants will gain practical strategies to maintain record integrity while meeting patient rights and regulatory expectations. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nDevelop a procedure for reviewing and responding to patient requests for an amendment within the timeframe(s) required under the HIPAA Privacy Rule\nIdentify when a patient request to amend their record can be denied and the related documentation requirements\nDiscuss strategies for amending records shared through health information exchanges\n\nAudience: \n\nCMOs\nCOOs\nCompliance Officers\nRisk Managers\nClinical Leadership\nHIPAA Privacy Officers\nHIPAA Security Officers\n\nPresenters\n\nDianne Pledgie\n\n\nREGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:Post-Breach Break-Ups: Is it Time to End a Business Associate Relationship?
DESCRIPTION:This webinar is Part 3 of 4 in the “I Heart HIPAA” webinar series.\nWhether it’s a vendor engaged by your electronic medical record (EMR) provider\, a pharmacy third-party administrator (TPA)\, or a local consultant providing coding support\, business associates frequently report breaches to covered entities. Some reports include tight timelines requiring the business associate to make breach notifications on behalf of the covered entity. Others arrive with limited information or incomplete data\, complicating the covered entity’s ability to meet its notification obligations. \nOnce the breach notification process concludes\, covered entities are often left with difficult questions: Should the relationship continue? What steps can be taken to reduce future risk and better protect the organization? \nLearning Objectives:\n\nIdentify the breach notification requirements for covered entities and their business associates under the HIPAA Breach Notification Rule\nProvide a practical framework for evaluating a business associate’s breach response and determining whether to continue the relationship\nDescribe contractual provisions health centers can incorporate into business associate agreements (BAAs) to mitigate financial and legal risk following a business associate breach\n\nAudience:\n\nCMOs\nCOOs\nCompliance Officers\nRisk Managers\nClinical Leadership\nHIPAA Privacy Officers\nHIPAA Security Officers\n\nPresenter:\n\nDianne Pledgie\n\n\nREGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:Privacy in Practice: NPP Updates to Protect Your Health Center
DESCRIPTION:This webinar is Part 2 of 4 in the “I Heart HIPAA” webinar series.\nShow your Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP) some love with this timely review of the HIPAA requirements and recommendations to protect your health center from patient complaints and OCR investigations. \nThe HIPAA Privacy Rule requires the NPP to describe how health centers use and disclose patient health information and how patients may exercise their rights to that information. With a compliance date of February 16\, 2026\, the revised 42 CFR Part 2 regulations require updates to the NPP to explain how substance use disorder (SUD) records protected by Part 2 are used and disclosed. Beyond regulatory compliance\, the NPP is also a valuable tool for proactively communicating with patients about data sharing with health information exchanges\, parental access to minors’ records\, and applicable state law requirements. \nLearning Objectives:\n\nIdentify the required elements of the NPP\nOutline best practices for incorporating 42 CFR Part 2 notice requirements into the NPP\nExplain strategic revisions and additions to the NPP that clearly define patient expectations regarding data disclosures and access to records under federal and state law\n\nAudience:\n\nCMOs\nCOOs\nCompliance Officers\nRisk Managers\nClinical Leadership\nHIPAA Privacy Officers\nHIPAA Security Officers\n\nPresenter:\n\nDianne Pledgie\n\n\nREGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:Patient Access to Medical Records: Who\, What and When
DESCRIPTION:This webinar is Part 1 of 4 in the “I Heart HIPAA” webinar series.\nFollowing an enforcement initiative that has resulted in over 50 enforcement actions involving covered entities and business associates\, the patient right of access under the HIPAA Privacy Rule is again in the spotlight. \nIn December 2025\, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced an investigation into a complaint involving vaccination of a student without parental consent. In connection with that announcement\, the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) issued a Dear Colleague letter reminding HIPAA-regulated entities of their obligation to provide timely access\, including when a parent requests access to their minor child’s record (unless an exception applies). HRSA announced a new grant requirement related to parental consent that began appearing in January 2026. \nLearning Objectives:\n\nIdentify patient access rights under federal law\, including the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the Information Blocking Rule\nExplain when a health care provider must provide access to a patient and when they have discretion to deny or limit access\nClarify how state and federal laws affect whether parents have access to the records of minor patients\n\nAudience:\n\nCMOs\nCOOs\nCompliance Officers\nRisk Managers\nClinical Leadership\nHIPAA Privacy Officers\nHIPAA Security Officers\n\nPresenter:\n\nDianne Pledgie\n\n\nREGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:Exploring “Other Lines of Business” for Community Health Centers: Strategies\, Risks\, and Opportunities | Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Exploring “Other Lines of Business” for Community Health Centers: Strategies\, Risks\, and Opportunities\nCommunity health centers are increasingly looking beyond the HRSA-approved scope of project to develop “other lines of business” as a way to strengthen financial sustainability\, respond to tightening restrictions on in-scope activities\, and pursue innovative service models. This trend is fueled by growing financial pressures and new federal directives—Executive Orders and HRSA’s corresponding priorities—that limit what may be carried out within scope. \nThis webinar will explore how to establish and maintain an “other line of business” responsibly. We’ll discuss strategies for allocating expenses under federal grants management rules\, examine the Section 330 statutory restriction on using nongrant funds to further project objectives\, and highlight risk considerations and common pitfalls to avoid. Participants will gain practical insights on assessing compliance implications and gauging potential risks when moving forward with business development opportunities and learn best practices in documenting compliance with HRSA’s financial requirements. \nWe are excited to co-present with Peter Epp of CohnReznick\, a CPA with 40 years of experience supporting community health centers. Together\, we’ll bring both legal and financial perspectives to help health centers innovate with confidence! \nLearning Objectives: \n\nExplain the “other lines of business” concept and how such activities are separate and distinct from the federally-funded health center project.\nDescribe the grants management principles applicable to appropriately allocating expenses between the federally-funded health center project and other lines of business.\nRecognize common compliance pitfalls and risk areas\, including the need to identify and navigate federal interest issues.\nEvaluate risk implications applicable to other lines of business.\n\nAudience: \n\nCEOs\nCFOs\nCOOs\nCMOs\nExecutive Leadership\nCompliance Officers\nRisk Managers\nLegal Counsel\n\nPresenters:\n\nCarrie Riley\nPetter Epp – Partner at CohnReznick\n\n\nREGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:340B Drug Discount Program | Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:Session 1:\nAugust 12 at 1:00 pm (EDT) \nSession 2:\nAugust 14 at 1:00 pm  (EDT) \nCamp Counselor: Jason Reddish\n\nWhat We Are Covering in Week 6:\n\nSession 1 – 340B Program Developments: Learning to Roll with the Punches\n\nFive years ago\, drug manufacturers started limiting shipments of drugs purchased through the 340B drug discount program to health centers’ contracted pharmacies. Since then\, we have faced a seemingly unending parade of news – the Inflation Reduction Act\, “rebate” models proposed by drug manufacturers\, changes to Medicaid managed care reimbursement\, and the evolution of telemedicine\, infusion therapies\, and medication therapy management. This webinar will highlight the current state of the 340B program and our best guess at where it will go from here\, including how to roll with the punches to position yourself for success.\n\n\nSession 2 – 340B Program Practice: Increasing Affordability for Patients Without Stepping on Landmines\n\nHealth centers know their core mission is to provide comprehensive primary health care services to all patients regardless of ability to pay. Unfortunately\, regulations and payer contracts often create difficulties when trying to reduce drug costs for patients who cannot afford their cost-sharing obligations. This webinar discusses where health centers do and do not have flexibility to implement discounts\, cost-sharing waivers\, and sliding-fee style discount programs for their patients.\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\nEach Compliance Summer Camp session will be recorded and available on demand. DESCRIPTION:Session 1:\nAugust 5 at 1:00 pm (EDT) \nSession 2:\nAugust 7 at 1:00 pm  (EDT) \nCamp Counselor: Jason Qu\n\nWhat We Are Covering in Week 5:\n\nSessions 1 & 2 – DEI and Nondiscrimination Laws: Legal Landscape Update \n\nRecent developments in case law and federal policy have shifted how key nondiscrimination laws applicable to health centers are being interpreted\, applied\, and enforced by agencies\, funders\, and regulatory authorities. These shifts have cast doubt on the legality of long-established diversity\, equity\, and inclusion (“DEI”)-related policies and practices and may be in tension with other programmatic\, contractual\, and/or state-level legal commitments.\nThese webinar sessions will provide attendees with a primer on applicable nondiscrimination laws—including Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act\, Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act\, the Age Discrimination Act\, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act—and on the changing legal landscape surrounding DEI. Attendees will explore how to make strategic\, risk-informed decisions regarding the continuation of DEI-related activities (including but not limited to targeted programs\, data collection\, and employment practices) against the current backdrop of legal uncertainty and shifting norms.\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\nEach Compliance Summer Camp session will be recorded and available on demand. SUMMARY:Governance and Health Center Board | Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:Session 1:\nJuly 29 at 1:00 pm (EDT) \nSession 2:\nJuly 31 at 1:00 pm  (EDT) \nCamp Counselors: Carrie Riley & Dianne Pledgie\n\n\nWhat We Are Covering in Week 4:\n\nSession 1 – Supporting a Strong and Compliant Health Center Board: Part 1\n\nIn Part 1\, we’ll explore the board’s essential role in overseeing the health center’s compliance program. HRSA’s Health Center Program requirements state that the board is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws. But what does this look like in practice? We’ll break it down and draw from HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) guidance to outline how boards can help lead a culture of compliance. SUMMARY:Navigating Your Health Center's Scope of Project | Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:Session 1:\nJuly 22 at 3:00 pm (EDT) \nSession 2:\nJuly 24 at 3:00 pm  (EDT) \nCamp Counselor: Carrie Riley\n\n\nWhat We Are Covering in Week 3:\n\nSessions 1 & 2 – Navigating Your Health Center’s Scope of Project\n\nBefore you hit the trails\, make sure your map is accurate! For community health centers\, Forms 5A\, 5B\, and 5C chart the course for your approved scope of project—defining your services\, sites\, and other key activities. We’ll also review a practical checklist of required elements for Column II contracts and Column III referral arrangements. SUMMARY:Implementing the 340B Insulin/Epi-Pen EO in Your Health Center | Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Implementing the 340B Insulin / Epi-Pen Executive Order In Your Health Center\nOn April 15\, 2025\, President Trump issued an Executive Order addressing issues relating to high drug prices. One section of the Executive Order requires Section 330(e) grantees to make insulin and injectable epinephrine (“Epi-Pens”) available at or below the 340B price to low-income individuals with a high cost-sharing requirements\, high unmet deductible\, or no healthcare insurance. Though guidance on implementing the Executive Order is scarce\, a similar order issued in the first Trump Administration provides significant clues as to how HHS will interpret the order. \nThis webinar discusses what we know and what we do not and discusses how health centers should aim to comply with the requirements. \nPresenters:\n\nJason Reddish\nJoella Roland\n\n\nREGISTER NOW
